Britain could be at war next week as IS plans nuke attack

David Cameron wants Britain to join strikes on IS in Syria
BRITAIN could be at war in Syria next week - amid claims IS fanatics are planning a nuclear attack.
The Government's Strategic Defence and Security Review yesterday outlined the terror group's plans to build a dirty bomb using nuclear, chemical or biological weapons.

A Commons vote could be held as early as next Tuesday - with RAF bombing raids following within hours.

 The PM, who spoke to servicemen at RAF Northolt on the way back from visiting French president Francois Hollande, unveiled the first major security shakeup in five years yesterday.

He revealed ten thousand troops are on standby to help cops tackle marauding gunmen in the event of an attack like the massacre in Paris on November 13.


Falling under police chiefs’ command, the rapid reaction troops would be used to set up security cordons, comb large rural areas and reassure the public. Mr Cameron said: “It gives the police an additional power in a time of great need.

“If there were a terrorist attack and we needed to surge, people would be happy to see the military do that role.”

The £178 billion review also details the Government's commitment to renewing Trident nukes and plans to put 50,000 of the Armed Forces on war footing with two new strike brigades of up to 5,000 troops each ready to deploy to any global crisis.

The MoD will also spend billions on new warships, extra stealth jets for the new aircraft carriers, high altitude drones and a new fleet of maritime patrol planes.
Special forces like the SAS will get more cash and another 2,000 spies will be hired to help protect us against terrorists.
In Paris yesterday, Mr Cameron laid flowers outside the Bataclan theatre where 89 people were murdered.
The PM said he had offered French jets the use of the RAF's base in Cyprus to launch raids and also said “it’s my firm conviction” that Britain should join in the pounding of IS.
