Two Pittsfield detectives agreed to act out a fight scene that Shavez could help break up.

In an interview with TODAY.com, Officer Darren Derby said: "Shavez was a little afraid when we first entered the garage where they were pretend fighting, but then I told them to stop and get on the ground with their arms behind their backs, which is when he helped me put handcuffs on them.”

Inspirational Shavez was driven around in a police car and given a tour around the jail cells, detectives’ bureau and Pittsfield Fire Department.

Officer Darren Derby was very moved by Shavez’s visit to the police station, commenting that his bravery and determination was such a credit.
Derby commented: “He touched and inspired a lot of the officers in ways we didn’t think were possible.”
