Three people were arrested after a police officer in California was
ambushed and gunned down while sitting in his car in the station's
parking lot, authorities said.
The shooting happened at about 11 p.m. Wednesday in Downey, located in
southeast Los Angeles County.
The victim, Ricardo "Ricky" Galvez, 29,
was on duty but not in uniform at the time of the attack, according to
authorities. The two attackers shot into Galvez's personal car before
driving away, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. John Corina
said.
Investigators believe the deadly shooting stemmed from a botched
robbery attempt. The suspects are two adults and a 17-year-old.
