Council cashes in after selling ‘SHED with potential’ for £200,000 at auction

A LOCAL council is thinking Christmas has come a week and a half early after selling a brick shed for over four times its guide price at auction.
Shed fetched four times guide price

Jeremy Lamb, from the auction house, said: “We marketed it as a garage but with development potential. I think the price paid reflects that.” The unit sold by Wandsworth Council measures 10ft 7in at the front and the listing says it has been used as a single garage as well as for storage.

It also has room for a car outside.  It’s located in the “sought after” area of Tooting Bec in south London near Balham High Road and had a guide price of £48,000, it sold for £208,000.

Jeremy said: “You would need to get an additional storey, and the plot itself is not that big either but if you could manage to get two floors you might get a small studio.”He added: “It is a lot of money. I would be surprised if someone had bought it to keep a car or a lawnmower in it.”
