They said they feared Mire, 29, might harm others or himself and pleaded for help. His brother Mohamed, 32, said: “I explained he was unwell. They didn’t do anything. They didn’t section him.”
The Met yesterday said they had been contacted by Mire’s family but referred them to health officials.
The 6ft 4in Somali-born Londoner faced Westminster magistrates yesterday charged with the attempted murder of a man, 56. Mire will appear at the Old Bailey on Friday.
Mire is said to have “sawed” at the man’s neck, inflicting a 5ins wound claiming he was doing it “for his brothers in Syria”.
