Mthethwa case back in court

Internationally acclaimed artist, Zwelethu Mthethwa, is due in the Western Cape High Court on Thursday. Mthethwa is accused of allegedly kicking to death 23-year-old sex worker, Nokuphila Kumalo, in Woodstock in April 2013.

The prosecution’s indictment alleged he “attacked her by repeatedly kicking her and stomping her body with booted feet”. He last appeared in court on Monday, but only briefly. The case was then postponed until Thursday as an interpreter fell ill. Mthethwa was out on R100 000 bail.
