SACP murder case postponed for 6 months

It will take at least another six months before the SACP in Mpumalanga hears details of the murder of their comrade Bomber Ntshangase.

His comrades claim his murder in Bethal on May 4, 2010, was politically motivated. The two accused, Ezekiel Sihlali and Zakhele Mzobe, were arrested in August 2010. 

They were not asked to plead to charges of murder when they appeared in the Delmas High Court on Monday. The court postponed the matter to August 1 to allow them to get legal representatives.

Sihlali was head of Mpumalanga’s department of health and community services and Mzobe a housing manager. Both had been suspended.

SACP provincial spokesperson Nomsa Keninda said all members of the party wanted to know what happened to Ntshangase.


“We suspect he is one of the victims of anger from tenderpreneurs as a result of our campaign on fighting against corruption, especially in our province. The killing of Ntshangase will never intimidate communists in their fight against corruption," he said.

Ntshangase had served on the SACP’s provincial executive committee and district executive committee. “He was a fearless fighter and outspoken on issues affecting the working class and the poor. His track-record of consistent activism in the party leave us with no doubt that he was a committed communist,” Keninda said.
