11 die in grisly accident along Homa Bay-Kisumu road

Eleven people have been confirmed dead after a 14-seater matatu headed to Kisumu from Sirare in Migori County lost control and plunged into a culvert, killing the passengers on the spot.

According to Nyanza regional traffic commandant Andres Naibei, the fatal road crash occurred at Daima area along Katito-Pap Onditi road Thursday morning.

Mr Naibei says some of the victims were students who were traveling to resume first term studies.

The traffic police boss says he, at the time of going to press, was unable to ascertain the exact number of those injured, given he is unaware of how many passengers had boarded the matatu at the time it was involved in the grisly accident.

Mr Naibei, however, said the injured were rushed to various health centres in Pap Onditi Sub County in Homa Bay County.
