Courbis not interested in Leicester job

Former Rennes head coach Rolland Courbis has refuted claims he could be in line to replace the departed Claudio Ranieri as manager of defending Premier League champions Leicester City.


The Foxes are currently in the market for a new manager after Ranieri was unexpectedly sacked on Thursday.

The Italian achieved the impossible last season by winning the Premier League with a much-unfavoured Leicester side, but they have struggle this term and are dangerously close to getting sucked into a relegation scrap.






Names such a Roy Hodgson and Roberto Mancini have been thrown out, as well as Courbis, who currently hosts a football-related radio show in France, but he has firmly denied he considering taking up the challenge.

"Does it interest me? No not at all. A challenge like that one, two and a half months before the end, I have already endured," he told BFM TV. "But now, no. It was a mission for me a few years ago, it was even exciting. But aside from that, to have the reputation as a firefighter is not enough."

Assistant coach Craig Shakespeare will take charge when The Foxes  welcome Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool to the King Power Stadium in an English Premiership clash on Monday evening.
