Hull City defender Alex Bruce released... on Twitter

Alex Bruce.
Defender Alex Bruce discovered that he is set to be released by the relegated Hull City on Twitter at the end of his current contract.

Bruce, son of former Hull manager Steve Bruce, joined the Tigers in 2012 making 85 appearances and helping the club gain promotion into the top flight of English football.

The 32-year-old's current deal at the KCOM Stadium expires at the end of June with the club confirming that it would not renew his contract.

In a tweet the club said: Alex Bruce heads a list of players who will leave Hull City once their contracts expire at the end of June
It seems as though this was news to Bruce who responded to the tweet: Thanks for letting me know!! All the best
