Coast police boss drops assault charges against Sonko

The prosecution on Tuesday applied to withdraw assault charges against Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko at the Voi Law Courts.

The embattled governor had traveled to the Voi Court to face assault charges over the incident that happened last year during his arrest.

Sonko had been accused of assaulting Coast Police Commander Rashid Yakubu.

The Voi court will rule on the DPP’s application to withdraw the charges on Wednesday.
