Human skull, bones found by hunters in St. Clair County

A human skull and several bones were discovered by hunters Monday in St. Clair County.

Deputy Steve Campau with the St. Clair County Sheriff Department's public information officer said hunters were tracking a deer they had shot when they came across a skull in the state game area in Burtchville Township.

Campau said the discovery was reported about 11:40 a.m. off State Road, about half a mile south of Burtch Road.

Deputies and detectives responded to the scene and found more bones within a 10-foot radius of where the skull had been found.
The bones have been taken to the county morgue.
