WEAR a hair band on your wrist? You might want to think twice about that after hearing this horror story.

A US woman was forced to have emergency surgery on her wrist after the plastic band she kept there for her hair caused a serious infection.

Audree Kopp, like many women, kept a hair band on her wrist, usually for ease or because she forgot to take it off.

But Audree noticed something was wrong when she developed a lump on her arm and it begun to grow.
Initially, she dismissed the bump as a spider bite but her concern grew when it "just kept getting bigger and redder", she told WLKY News.
