Sun columnist Kelvin MacKenzie argues that instead of Tasers, we need to issue our police with guns to take on terrorist threat in the UK.

I read this piece by Anthony Loyd in The Times on Saturday and it so concerned me I felt it needed a wider airing.
The Sun’s sale is four times larger than that of The Times:
“When Islamic State guards unchained their captives in the cave, the 50 prisoners who were crowded together in the gloom assumed they were being allowed some exercise.
Instead they were pushed to the cave entrance to watch one of their number being executed. “It was my cousin Assanullah who they chose to kill,” recalled Haji Lal Pur, a 40-year-old farmer who was among the captives.
“He was only 20 but had served with the border police so he didn’t have a chance. The Daesh always executes security forces.” The jihadists made their prisoner lie down, his hands tied behind him, his head forced down on a block of wood.
Several men filmed the scene from different angles. As two guards stood on his back, a black-clad Pakistani mullah slit the man’s throat then cut off his head.
“He had a special knife to do it, about two feet long with a fork in the blade at one end, which he used to sever the vertebrae,” said Haji Lal Pur.”

The piece goes on to say that ISIS are running a recruitment campaign across 25 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces and want to establish a new caliphate there.
So there you have it. For Western nations to do nothing is simply not a runner. With madmen slashing throats in London Underground stations, the issue is getting closer all the time.
Instead of Tasers, we should issue our police with guns and take a leaf out of the Israeli playbook and shoot such people dead.
