Real Madrid want to bring under-fire Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho back to the Bernabeu

Florentino Perez still rates Blues boss as best coach in the world.
Mourinho is enduring his worst ever start to a season

REAL MADRID want to take Jose Mourinho back to the Bernabeu next summer. President Florentino Perez still rates the Chelsea boss the best coach in the world and wants him to succeed the doomed Rafa Benitez.

And Real will be favourites to land Mourinho over Valencia, who will also target the Portuguese as SunSport revealed last week. Mourinho, 52, left Madrid in 2013 following a trophy-less season.

Madrid president Florentino Perez is a big fan of the Portuguese
His three years in Spain were marked by rifts with most of the big names in Real’s star-studded dressing room. But his relationship with Perez has remained close and the Real supremo has always insisted he never really wanted to let Mourinho go.

A top Madrid source revealed: “If Florentino could have Jose back without any trouble, he’d do it tomorrow. “We are not at that stage yet. “But it is true that they are in regular contact and their relationship goes way beyond the professional. They are friends.”

Mourinho’s future at Chelsea is up in the air despite winning the Premier League title last season and leading his side into the Champions League last 16. They are having their worst season in the Roman Abramovich era, having lost EIGHT of their 15 Premier League games so far this season.

Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat by Bournemouth left them 14th in the table 14 points adrift of the top four and only TWO above the relegation zone. Benitez is also under huge pressure despite Tuesday’s 8-0 Champions League win over Malmo.

The ex-Liverpool and Chelsea boss replaced Mourinho’s successor at Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, last summer.
But he is unpopular with players and fans. Real were crushed 4-0 at home by Barcelona in last month’s El Clasico and trail their bitter rivals by four points in La Liga.

And even if he wins some silverware, it is tough to see how he will continue beyond the end of this season.
Perez, 68, is 12th in the list of Spain’s richest people. The self-made billionaire invented the Galacticos era by signing megastars such as David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane.

And he was responsible for the world’s two most expensive transfers  signing Gareth Bale for £86million from Tottenham and Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo for £80m. The construction tycoon also prides himself on overtaking Manchester United as the world’s richest club in 2013.
