The Vodafone worker “jumped” from the roof garden at the swanky hotspot on the 7th floor bar shortly after 4pm on January 17. Irishman Mike was on a short holiday from his native Dublin when he plunged from the bar leaving his family “heartbroken”.

He became the latest in a string of suicides from the rooftop venue despite the owners, D&D London, installing 6 foot-high barriers to prevent people plunging to their deaths. Security guards are also in place after five people died after falling between 2007 and 2015.

His father and four brothers have all said Mike would be “very sadly missed” and have requested for donations to be made to the charity Pieta House, which runs prevention centres for self-harm and suicide in Ireland.

Mike, who was studying a part-time business computing degree in Dublin, had spent many years working and living abroad. His death, which apparently went unnoticed by fellow diners and staff until the police arrived, is not being treated as suspicious by the authorities and an inquest is due to open next month.

Pal Stephen Morgan said: “He was such a genuine, down-to-earth person who would do anything to help someone out.” His employer, Vodafone, said in a statement: ‘Vodafone is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Michael Halligan, a Vodafone Ireland Retail employee, while on personal travel in the UK.

‘Vodafone offers sincere condolences to Michael’s family and friends. ‘The company wants to respect the privacy and wishes of Michael’s family and has no further comment.’
