Man, 28, seriously wounded in early morning shooting in Orléans

A 28-year-old man was shot several times and taken to hospital.

Ottawa police guns and gangs unit is investigating a shooting that occurred around 1:40 a.m. on St. Joseph Boulevard in Orléans. A 28-year-old man was shot several times and taken to hospital in critical condition.

First responders at the scene near the intersection of St. Joseph and St. Pierre Street found the victim behind the building, which houses a barber shop on the ground floor.

Paramedics administered advanced care treatment and transported the victim to the Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus trauma unit.

Police believe the shooting occurred after a dispute between two men who knew each other.

The victim was first described as being in critical condition, but his wounds  to the chest, stomach and thigh  are no longer considered life-threatening.

Police say he is cooperating with the investigation. No arrests have been made and no suspect descriptions were immediately available. It was the 28th case of gunshots being reported in the city this year.
