North Carolina missionary worker, 26, died 'protecting his girlfriend from armed men who tried to rob his backpack in Kenya'

• Cameron Huntley, 26, was shot in Nairobi by two robbers on a motorcycle
• The English teacher reportedly resisted their attempt to steal his backpack
• Huntley, of Asheville, NC, was with his girlfriend at the time, his family said
• He died in local hospital after suffering gunshot wounds to head and chest
  
  Huntley, who hailed from Asheville, was shot on Niara Road by two robbers who approached him on a motorcycle and demanded his backpack.

  A North Carolina man was shot and killed in front of his girlfriend in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday, according to reports.

  Cameron Huntley, 26, died after he was shot during a robbery in the Kenyan capital, where he was teaching English and doing missionary work, friends of his family told the Asheville Citizen-Times. 
  
  
  
  
  Huntley, who hailed from Asheville, was shot on Riara Road by two robbers who approached him on a motorcycle and demanded his backpack, local Nairobi newspaper the Star reported. 
  He was shot once in the head and twice in the chest after he resisted the robbers' attempt to steal the backpack, in which he carried his laptop, according to the Star.
