How Kenyans voted to give Uhuru victory
President Uhuru Kenyatta casts his ballot at Mutomo Primary school in Gatundu, Kiambu County on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.
Jubilee’s Party Uhuru Kenyatta was on Friday (August 11) declared the President-elect after meeting the set constitutional threshold by garnering 8,203,290 votes, a 54.27% representation of all the votes cast on Tuesday, August 8.

Uhuru beat National Super Alliance’s (NASA) Raila Odinga who received 6,762,224 votes, a 44.74% representation of all the votes cast.

Uhuru edged out seven challengers to emerge victorious in a vote disputed by the Opposition NASA that has accused the ruling party of collaborating with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to alter the numbers in favour of the incumbent.

In the Tuesday poll, Uhuru extended his margin against that of Odinga compared to 2013. In 2013, Uhuru was declared the winner after securing 6,173,433 (50.07%) of the votes cast over Odinga’s 5,340,546 (40.3%) votes.
