Police in Rachuonyo South, Homa Bay County, are investigating an incident where a 32-year-old man was found dead at Agoro village in Oyugis Town.
The body of Philemon Onyango was found dumped along the road between Agoro Sare Secondary School and Agoro Sare Primary with no physical injuries on his body.
According to Oyugis town location Chief, Nelson Odiwuor Muma the deceased who hailed from Orudi village had come to Agoro village for his aunt’s burial and at around midnight, he left the home in the company of four other men to indulge in alcohol.
The chief further stated that the deceased later communicated with his mother on phone at dawn where he told her that he had been abducted by strangers purporting to be police officers and were demanding for Ksh.5000 before they could release him.
Mr. Muma said that after the deceased had communicated with his mother, his phone went off prompting his family members to go and lo0k for him at Oyugis Police Station.
They, however, received information that a body had been found lying near Agoro Sare High School and on reaching at the scene they found the body was Onyango’s.
