Opposition leader Raila Odinga has bemoaned the scandal involving data analytics firm Cambridge Analytica and Facebook saying he might sue them for defaming him.

In an interview with Channel 4 News on Tuesday, Mr. Odinga said “The Real Raila” Facebook page that was run by Cambridge Analytica vilified his character.

“I am very disappointed that Facebook agreed to cooperate with this clandestine enterprise and we are actually contemplating legal action against them,” he told Channel 4‘s Lindsey Hilsum.

An expose revealed last week showed that Cambridge Analytica used personal information harvested from more than 50 million Facebook profiles without permission to influence 200 elections including that of Kenya.

The company built a system that targeted voters with personalised political advertisements based on their psychological profile.

Facebook has denied allegations of political support with one party over another in elections or campaigns by Cambridge Analytica in the 2017 Kenyan elections.
